This policy covers what IQTests, the website at iq-test-free.com, collects when you use it, why we collect it, who it reaches, and the rights you hold over it. It is written to be read, not to bury you in clauses. IQTests is an independent, educational website that provides a reasoning test for self-reflection; it is not a clinical or medical service and does not replace a licensed professional. We process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), and, for users in California, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA.
The short version
The test is scored entirely in your browser. We run no advertising networks and no analytics trackers, we sell nothing, and the only personal detail we ever ask for is an email address, and only if you choose to unlock your result. You can take the whole test anonymously, in which case nothing you do is linked to your identity.
What we collect
Your email address. After you finish the test you can enter an email to reveal your full result. We use Formspark, a third-party form service, to deliver that submission to us; we receive the address you typed plus a short one-line summary of your score. If you never submit the form, we never receive an email from you.
Your answers and score. These are worked out on your device. We do not send your individual question responses to a server; the only score data that reaches us is the one-line summary above, and only when you submit the unlock form. Aggregate, de-identified response patterns may be used to maintain the test's norms, without being tied to any person.
Local storage on your device. The test saves a few small values in your browser, such as which result wording you last saw and whether you have already unlocked a result. These never leave your device. Each value is named and explained in our cookie policy.
Standard server logs. As nearly every website does, our hosting provider records technical request data, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, and a timestamp, for security and basic operation. These logs are not used to build a profile of you.
What we do not collect. We do not ask for your name (unless you give it in a message), we hold no passwords, and we take no payment details because the test is free and there is nothing to buy.
Sensitive data and special categories
We treat the results of a reasoning test with extra care. In some jurisdictions, information about cognitive performance can be regarded as a special category of personal data under Article 9 of the GDPR. Where that applies, we rely on your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)), given when you choose to submit your result, and we never disclose individual results to third parties in identifiable form. Because the test can be taken anonymously, you can avoid linking any result to your identity simply by not submitting the unlock form.
Why we collect it, and the legal basis
We process your email on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) and, for the result it carries, your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)); you may withdraw it at any time. We deliver the result you asked for on the basis of performing your request (Article 6(1)(b)). We keep secure server logs and maintain de-identified norms on the basis of our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in running a safe, accurate site. Where the law requires us to retain something, we rely on legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)). Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of anything done before you withdrew it.
Who we share it with
The list is short and we keep it that way. Our form provider, Formspark, delivers your unlock submission to us. Our hosting and content-delivery provider processes standard server logs to serve and protect the site. That is the extent of it: we run no analytics or advertising networks, so there is no Google Analytics, no ad network, and no data broker in the picture. We do not sell personal data, and we never pass an individual result to an employer, an insurer, a school, or any other third party. We would disclose information only where the law genuinely required it.
International transfers
Some of our processors operate outside the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision. You can request a copy of the relevant safeguards by writing to [email protected].
How long we keep it
Email submissions and the score summary attached to them are kept for up to 24 months from your last interaction, then deleted; ask us to remove yours sooner and we will. De-identified, aggregated data used to maintain the test's norms is kept indefinitely in a form that is not linked to any person. Messages sent through the contact form are kept for 12 months. Standard server logs rotate on our host's normal schedule, generally within about 90 days. Once a retention period ends, data is deleted or irreversibly anonymized.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal data we hold (Article 15), to have it corrected (Article 16), to have it erased (Article 17), to restrict its processing (Article 18), to receive it in a portable, machine-readable form (Article 20), and to object to certain processing (Article 21). You can withdraw consent at any time. California residents have equivalent rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to opt out of any "sale", which is straightforward here because we do not sell data in the first place. To exercise any of these, write to [email protected], ideally from the same email you submitted, so we can match the record; we acknowledge requests promptly and act on them within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, for example the ICO in the United Kingdom or the CNIL in France.
Security
Submissions travel over an encrypted (TLS/HTTPS) connection. We keep server and site software up to date, restrict access to any submitted result to the few people who need it, and protect administrative access. The strongest protection, though, is that we deliberately collect as little as possible: data we never hold cannot be exposed. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take all reasonable measures to keep what little we have safe.
Children
The test is intended for users aged 16 and over, or younger only with the consent of a parent or guardian where the law requires it; in the United States we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone below the applicable age without that consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact [email protected] and we will delete it. The age conditions for using the site are also set out in our terms of use.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The current version is dated at the top of the page, and we will flag any change that materially affects your rights. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
