Terms of use

The ground rules for using the site, in plain language.

Last updated 30 June 2026 · written and reviewed by Marcus Hale

By using iq-test-free.com (the site), you agree to these terms. They are short and written in plain language, and they cover what the site is, the limits of what it offers, and the ground rules for using it. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

Acceptance of these terms

These terms govern your access to and use of the site, which is operated by IQTests. Using the site in any way means you accept them, and they apply from your first visit. We may update them from time to time, as described near the end of this page, so it is worth re-reading them occasionally. If any single provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in force.

What the site is, and what it is not

IQTests provides a free online reasoning test and the explanatory pages around it, for educational, informational, and self-reflection purposes. The site is not a medical, psychiatric, or clinical service. The test does not diagnose anything and does not replace assessment by a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. Our online IQ test produces an estimate of certain cognitive abilities in the conditions you took it in, not a clinically valid figure equivalent to a supervised WAIS or Stanford–Binet result. A result depends on those conditions: fatigue, distraction, mood, and environment all affect it, and it carries an inherent margin of error. We describe exactly what the score measures and where its limits lie on our methodology and how we score pages, and you take any result for what it is, on your own responsibility. The fuller account of responsible interpretation is in our disclaimer & responsible use page.

Age and use by minors

The site is intended for users aged 16 and over, or younger only with the consent and involvement of a parent or guardian where the law requires it. A result for a young person is especially provisional, because a developing mind changes quickly, and it is no substitute for a school or clinical assessment. Parents are encouraged to interpret any such result cautiously and to consult a school or educational psychologist where a genuine question about ability arises. The data conditions for younger users are set out in our privacy policy.

Acceptable use

The site is provided free of charge and there are no accounts to create. You agree to use it lawfully and not to misuse it: in particular, not to attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the site or its security; not to scrape, harvest, or systematically extract its content or items by automated means; not to reverse-engineer the test or its scoring in order to clone or republish it; and not to use it for any unlawful purpose. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice, including to protect its integrity.

Your submissions

If you enter an email to unlock a result or to contact us, you confirm that it is a genuine address you are entitled to use. How we handle that email and the score summary attached to it is set out in our privacy policy, and the small values the test stores on your device are listed in our cookie policy. You remain responsible for the content of any message you send us.

Cost and how the site is funded

Taking the test is free; there is no account, no paywall on your result, and nothing to buy. We do not currently sell premium reports or charge for scores. The site may, in the future or in places, contain advertising or affiliate links to relevant resources such as books or courses; where it does, that is disclosed and clearly separated from the test, and it never affects the content of the test, the way it is scored, or how a result is interpreted. The full position is in our advertising disclosure.

Accuracy and disclaimer

We aim for scientific correctness and lean on peer-reviewed research, but psychological science evolves and norms and interpretations can change. We do not guarantee absolute accuracy of any result: every test has a standard error of measurement, so a score is an estimate with a confidence interval, not an exact value. Nothing on the site is medical, psychological, legal, or other professional advice. If a result causes you concern, please speak with a qualified professional; the resources are listed on our disclaimer & responsible use page. Any decision you make on the basis of a result is made at your own risk.

Intellectual property

The content of the site, including the explanatory texts, graphics, scoring logic, design, and code, is the intellectual property of IQTests or used under license; the reasoning items are modeled on the public-domain ICAR pool and used under its terms. You may not copy, reproduce, or republish the site's content or its scoring as your own. Names of established frameworks and instruments belong to their respective owners and are used here for information only; our test is an independent, ICAR-based implementation, not an official edition of any branded instrument. Brief quotation with a working link back is fine. Report any infringement to [email protected].

Third-party links

The site links to outside resources, such as research papers, books, and support organizations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or policies; you follow such links at your own risk and should review their own terms. The presence of a link is not an endorsement.

Limitation of liability

The site and its results are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, IQTests is not liable for decisions made on the basis of a result, for any distress arising from interpreting a result, for any temporary unavailability of the site, and we do not guarantee that a result predicts success in work, study, or relationships. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you actually paid us for the service, which for a free test is zero.

Responsible use

We ask that you treat a result as a tool for self-reflection, not a final verdict on your personality or intelligence, and that you do not use it to label yourself or anyone else. Do not base important life decisions on a single online test. If a result has upset you, please reach out for support rather than sitting with it alone; the disclaimer & responsible use page is there for exactly that.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the current version is dated at the top, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised version. These terms are governed by the law applicable to the operator of IQTests, and any dispute will be handled by the courts holding proper jurisdiction, with informal resolution through [email protected] encouraged first.

Questions about any of this can go to our contact page; privacy questions to [email protected]. To see who is behind the site, read about; to see the terms in practice, take the free test.
